Vintage Fighter Series Logo

Ray at Vintage Fighter Series was kind enough to send me the following images which offer an insight not only into how the forthcoming VFS P-47D Thunderbolt in 1:24th scale is coming along, but also how the moulding process works in general.

We begin with the moulds themselves and you can clearly make out the parts and components they will produce, anbd the latter, gold coloured parts are the masters with the laser etched rivet detail added.

Next, we have and exclusive look at Gerald Asher's stunning box art for the second release of the D-25 variant which should be available a few months after the initial release.

Ray tells me that to follow the D-25 variant there will be a D-30 as well as an M and an N to follow.

We will keep you posted with more information regarding price and availability as we are made aware of it.

Thanks to Ray Thomas at VFS for the images, contact Ray for order enquiries.

Roden 1:32 S.E.5a by Jay Laverty

Here are 8 images of my just completed Roden S.E.5a. I created and then used the MasterCasters resin detail sets with this model, and the Windsock Datafiles were invaluable aides in not only the detailing but also the finishing of the kit.

The model is painted in a combination of Revell and White Ensign enamels. The "RFC Green" is Revell #46, the "Doped Linen" is White Ensign Models "German Interior Cream" (AR G 01) and all of the colours used to shade (Black and White) came from White Ensign as well.

The Roden kit itself is pretty good and needs very little work to get it finished, although adding the top wing was a bit hair raising for me, although I understand this is something that becomes a "knack" for WWI modellers, and something I will no doubt get much better at as time goes by.

This build will feature in an upcoming issue of Model Aircraft International
